Working with Affiliate Links in Commission Junction (or CJ)Affiliate links at Commission Junction are not simply Copy-Paste codes. It requires a skill for grabbing the HTML code and then pasting it on your web site/blog.
Choosing Between JavaScript Links and HTML Links
Once on advertiser approved your application CJ gives you two linking option: JavaScript links and HTML links. I suggest you to choose HTML Links as it seems to be more flexible. The choice is ultimately yours, but if you prefer faster loading times on your web sites and easier link management, choose HTML links for your web pages.
HTML Links allow you to run multiple campaigns on your web sites without slowing down server speeds, it allows you to mask your affiliate links with PHP, HTML redirects or other methods. And you can even advertise your affiliate links in emails.
To Get HTML Links, click the "Get Links" tab and then click the "By Relationship" tab so that it will display all the advertisers you are affiliated with.
CJ offers separate codes for banners, text links and also offers a keyword link which you can use for Search Engine Marketing or for direct linking to the advertiser’s web site.
The Two Most Important Linking Features
When copy HTML links to your clipboard, take advantage of CJ’s site tracking and SID tracking features.
Site Tracking: Site tracking filters your affiliate commissions by web site domain. That way, you can track exactly which of your web sites generates the most tracking and sales.
SID Tracking: SID tracking or Shopper ID tracking tags each HTML link with a unique tracking id. Each sale in your commission report has a SID, which provides immediate feedback on conversion rates.
Getting Started:
1. Select the web site in which you will be using to promote the affiliate links on the “Get HTML” page.
2. Give your link a unique SID so you can track conversions and sales from that particular link.
3. Click “Update Link Code”. SIDs will give you more information about which keywords and pages are converting the most.
